We’ve just released county-by-county data, detailing the unmet need in all Minnesota counties, in addition to Western Wisconsin. Visit www.missingmeals.org now to learn more about the gap in your community.
This past weekend, Southwest Airlines officially launched service to Minneapolis/St. Paul, and kicked off the festivities by donating over a ton of chili to Second Harvest!
In addition, Southwest partnered with Cub Foods to offer shoppers a chance to win a pair of round-trip tickets in exchange for purchasing a $5 or $10 prepared food bag to donate.
Tune in to minute 1:45 in the video below to see the donations made to Second Harvest Heartland, and a clip from our Executive Director, Rob Zeaske.
Second Harvest Heartland extends a heartfelt “thank you” to Southwest Airlines and Cub Foods!
We know solving hunger isn’t a mystery. And we’ve always understood the need, we just hadn’t quantified it. Until now.
We did the math. The result: the “Missing Meals” project, detailing the unmet food needs in Minnesota. So as a kickoff to the Minnesota FoodShare March Campaign, the report is now publicly available.
The findings are staggering. Now we know for a fact that low-income Minnesotans are missing 125 million meals every year: the equivalent of going to bed without dinner for two weeks out of every month.
Visit www.missingmeals.org to learn what you can do to help us begin filling this gap today.
