Let’s Kick Hunger Tomorrow!

WCCO Radio, Taste of the NFL, General Mills, and Land O’Lakes are together again presenting the third annual Let’s Kick Hunger Day Radiothon tomorrow from 5am to 6pm at the Mall of America.

Through collaboration and support of the community, this event has generated funds to aid in the fight against hunger, supporting Second Harvest Heartland and 32 food banks through Taste of the NFL. Join the effort this year to help us do even more for our neighbors in need.

Participating in the radiothon is easy. Simply tune into WCCO Radio or stop by the Mall of America to become a Hunger Hero. Just $10 per month for a year or a one-time gift of $120 will help provide 840 meals to the hungry children, families and older adults in our community. To get involved, call 877.866.4376 between 5am to 6pm on Thursday, or click here to make a donation.

We hope you can join us in helping Kick Hunger!

    To whom it may concern,
I am a mother in desperate need of help. I am facing being homeless and I am scared.. It is cold and my family depends on me. I can barely imagine the looks on my children’s faces as I tell them we have no home. HELP me please… Every place I go for help I get the answer, I am sorry Maam we are currently out of funds, and then they suggest calling Saint Vincent De Paul. I have called so many organizations as well as emailed and I am running out of time, I just get redirected. I don’t know what to do, it is freezing outside and there is snow on the ground. I ask myself where will we sleep, will we be cold, will we be hungry? Will anyone Care?

We are a family of five Samantha (Mother), Robert (Father), Christopher (Son), Gabriel (Son), Samantha Jo (Daughter) and our little dog Sancho. In February 2011 I lost my job due to medical reasons making it unable for me to work. I have several different conditions which make it impossible for me to keep a job I have livedo reticularis , Raynaud phenomenon and rheumatoid arthritis. My husband has been looking for work ever since we arrived in Illinois 2008 and has only found temporary seasonal work, which puts us back in the same situation at the of every seasons employment. Even when working my husband Robert continues to seek permanent fulltime employment. My son Gabriel is in his last year of high school and in a few months will graduate. It has been his dream to graduate high school, he has strived to get here and I don’t know where we will be. I have a young daughter with social phobia currently not in school and would like to get here the help she so desperately needs. My oldest son just lost his job and we cannot make ends meet we struggle to make it day to day. I strive everyday looking for new ways to help my family, it is so hard to feed people with no money. Recently my home phone was disconnected and that didn’t help. I try and keep my spirits up because my children need to see me be Positive that way they really don’t have to experience the pain I feel deeply in my heart. Life is hard enough and this is something that they did not ask for and as a parent I feel the need to protect them from this. So I awake with a smile and tell them tomorrow will bring only bigger and better things. I have to hold onto that.
We are now are facing an eviction (my court date is January 26, 2012) and no means of employment for our family has left us with no choice but to reach out to anybody that can help us, I am not ashamed of my situation and know that we will get back on our feet again, I have overcome many obstacles. But this time I am having trouble making it to my knees to stand if you know what I mean. I am desperately seeking help with finding a place to live and a fulltime employment opportunity for my family members. We need some help (I will swallow my Pride for my family) in becoming independent and self-sufficient so we can keep our family together. We are a Strong, Loving, Determined and Ambitious bunch and will not be separated; we are an awesome dedicated Team. So please if you can help or know of someone who can Please Reach out to us in our time of Need. I keep Matthew 7:7 close to my heart: Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
    Sincerely,

    Best wishes.
